MATLIT: Materialities of Literature, volume 7.1 (2019)
“Experimental Poetry Networks: Material Circulations”

The journal MATLIT: Materialities of Literature has released its Call for Papers for the next issue, to be published in 2019. Under the general
topic “Experimental Poetry Networks: Material Circulations”, issue 7.1 will be edited by Pauline Bachmann (Universität Zürich) and Jasmin Wrobel (Freie Universität Berlin).

MATLIT’s volume 7.1 seeks contributions dealing with analogue experimental poetic practices – both historical (starting in the 1950s) and contemporary – that dialogue with the social reality they were created in and/or highlight the networked character of experimental poetry, even across linguistic barriers. The goal is to gather texts that interrogate experimental poetic practices not only within the time frame and space in which each poet worked but to offer a perspective on the intersections of its networked character, material reality and presence of the body (as in the case of performance poetry, for instance). We are also interested in articles that inquire how far the development of the digital age has changed and influenced analogue production and its networked character.
Possible topics may include (but are not limited to):

• Experimental poetry’s relation to mail art circles
• The role of exhibitions and magazines in international collaboration
• Relations between international collaboration and national/local culture and political situation
• Intermedia and interdisciplinary collaborations
• Interlinguistic collaborations and exchanges
• Materiality and negotiations between analogue and digital practices
• Analogue experimental poetry in the digital era

Article submissions will be due on December 31, 2018, with notifications
of acceptance by April 30, 2019. MATLIT publishes articles in the
following languages: Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

A revista MATLIT: Materialidades da Literatura acaba de divulgar a Call for Papers para o próximo número, a publicar em 2019. Sob o tema geral “Redes da Poesia Experimental: Circulações Materiais”, o número 7.1 será organizado por Pauline Bachmann (Universidade de Zurique) e Jasmin Wrobel (Universidade Livre de Berlim).

O volume 7.1. da revista MATLIT está aberto a artigos sobre práticas poéticas experimentais analógicas – tanto históricas (a partir da década de 1950) como contemporâneas – que dialogam com a realidade social na qual foram criadas e/ou enfatizam a natureza da produção em rede da poesia experimental, inclusive cruzando as barreiras linguísticas. O objetivo é reunir textos que interroguem as práticas poéticas experimentais não somente dentro do contexto temporal e geográfico no qual cada poeta produziu mas considerando igualmente as intersecções entre essa natureza da produção em rede com a realidade material e a presença do corpo (na poesia performativa, por exemplo). Interessam-nos ainda artigos que analisem o modo como o desenvolvimento da era digital mudou e influenciou a produção analógica e seu caráter de produção em rede.
Os temas possíveis podem incluir (mas não estão limitados a):

• A relação entre a poesia experimental e os círculos de arte postal
• O papel das exposições e revistas nas práticas colaborativas internacionais
• A relação entre colaboração internacional e situação política e cultural local/nacional
• As colaborações intermediais e interdisciplinares
• As colaborações e intercâmbios interlinguísticos
• A materialidade e intercâmbio entre práticas analógicas e digitais
• A poesia experimental analógica na era digital

Os artigos devem ser apresentados até 31 de dezembro de 2018, sendo os
autores notificados sobre a aceitação até 30 de abril de 2019. A revista
MATLIT publica artigos em português, inglês e espanhol.
