The Faculty of Arts, Department of Romance Studies at the University of Potsdam hereby announces the following professorship to be filled by the summer semester 2019

Full Professorship (W3) in Romance Linguistics (French and Spanish)

The future holder of this professorship will be responsible for research and teaching in Romance linguistics (French and Spanish) across the full spectrum of synchronic and diachronic perspectives.

Candidates should have a focus on research in the core fields of linguistics, recognizable interest in the analysis of written and/or oral communication, as well as readiness to contribute to the development of the Faculty‘s focus on language variation. The professor will take on responsibility for linguistics in all of the bachelor‘s and master‘s degree programs in Romance languages pertaining to French and Spanish, will be involved in interdepartmental master‘s degree programs in linguistics (foreign language linguistics; linguistics: communication – variation – multilingualism; applied cultural studies and cultural semiotics), and will cooperate with the Department of Linguistics in the Faculty of Human Sciences. Commitment to internationalization in teaching and research, especially for the expansion and cultivation of contacts in Romance countries, is required. Candidates should have experience in the acquisition of external funding, the organization of research projects, and academic selfadministration.

Candidates from abroad are expected to have basic knowledge in German.

The qualifications necessary for an appointment under Section 41 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG) apply.
