Assistant Professor of French Studies (full-time, with possibility of promotion)
The University of St Gallen seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of French Studies within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) from August 1, 2020.
The appointment is for a maximum of six years, after which, subject to performance evaluation, the post may be converted into a tenured Associate Professorship.
The successful candidate will have a disciplinary background in literary and/or cultural studies, with a research profile in any area of French-speaking Europe or other Francophone cultures. A focus on the 20th and 21th centuries is desirable.
She or he will be committed to interdisciplinary research and teaching. The languages of instruction are German and/or English, but seminars can also be offered in French.
Applicants must have a PhD, first-rate publications, and outstanding university teaching experience. As the University’s administration is conducted in German, the appointee must be willing to acquire a passive knowledge of German.
